Who can participate in “Symbioza”?

Every under or post-graduate student, researcher, or any person who is interested in biotechnology or related fields who wants to present their research results on the related topic, or just expand their knowledge in the area and make interesting contacts is perfectly welcome at IBS Symbioza.

In 2021 IBS “Symbioza” we kindly invite participants from all over the world. The 9th Symbioza will be held fully in English.

I would like to participate in “Symbioza,” but I don’t have a good presentation topic. Can I come, just to listen and broaden my knowledge?

Of course! The aim of “Symbioza” is to broaden the knowledge and integrate the academic community, so you are warmly invited, also as a listener!

How much is the participation fee?

The participation fee for 9th IBS “Symbioza” is 80 zł or 20 euro. The fee includes participation in all lectures and poster sessions, integration events, conference discount package and abstract book in PDF. All participants, passive as well as active, pay the same fee. In case of gaining additional funds from the Symposium sponsors, the fee might be reconsidered and reduced.

Can I participate in only one day of the conference for a reduced fee?

Unfortunately, there is no such possibility. Regardless of the number of days of actual participation in the Symposium, the fee remains the same. We kindly invite you to attend the entire symposium and not just its parts.

How many abstracts can each participant submit?

Each Participant can submit only one abstract (one poster or one presentation), which she or he will present. Moreover, a participant can be a co-author of any other submitted abstract. However, we would like to point out that the acceptation of the presenting author does not mean the automatic acceptance of all co-authors as participants of the Conference.

How many participants can give one presentation?

Presentations should be given by one person only. We encourage all co-authors to participate as passive participants and actively discuss the topic after the presentation.

In which language will the invoice be given?

The invoice will be issued on the basis of participant’s affiliation – participants with Polish affiliation will receive an invoice in Polish. People with foreign affiliation will receive an invoice in English.
How many authors can present a poster at a time?
In order to provide comfortable presenting conditions for all co-authors, as well as for poster session visitors, the rule of poster submission and presentation by one author only has been established. The presenting author is the one subbmiting the abstract.

What are the requirements for the abstracts?

In order to make our conference even more pleasant, this year we decided to relieve the participants of formatting abstracts of the presentations and do it ourselves.

We only ask to:

– limit the length of the summary (not including the title, authors and affiliations) to 2000 characters (including spaces),
– limit the length of the title to 200 characters (inclugind spaces).
Abstracts submition will be possible from 8th of March 2021 to 21st of March 2021, and all the registered active participants will be provided detailed information on how to make the submition on the e-mail address given in the registration form.

All abstracts must be subbmitted in English.

Abstract that do not fulfill abovementioned requirements can be disqulified.

Can I get an invoice for the participation in the conference?

Yes, you can get the invoice for the participation. To get the invoice you should check it off in the registration form and give the invoice details.

What are possible ways of participation at IBS “Symbioza”?

We provide you with two ways of participation at IBS “Symbioza”:

– passive participation that allows you to take part in all conference lectures and events,
– active participation that additionally to the passive one allows you to present your data in front of Symbioza’s participants in the form of poster presentation or 15 min oral presentation.

What are the requirements for the posters?

The posters should be clear and prepared in PDF. The contents of all posters presented as well as short presentation (approx. 3 min) for the jury must be prepared in English.

How many authors can present a poster at a time?

Where and when will the 9th Symbioza take place?

The 9th Intercollegiate Biotechnology Symposium “Symbioza” will take place from 21st till 23rd May 2021 online via the Whova platform.

How can I reach the conference?

All necessary information and instruction how to reach and use the platform, will be provided to the participants via e-mail given by them in their registration form.

Will there be conference proceedings?

At the moment, we do not plan any conference proceedings, especially no publications in scientific journals. Note, however, that each participant will receive the book of abstracts in PDF with ISBN number.

Will the co-authors of the winning presentation/poster be awarded?

In the case of a victory of a presentation/poster with more than one author, the diploma is awarded only to the presenting person. At the author’s request, the organizers may prepare a certificate naming all co-authors, that confirm the win. Please report such interest by e-mail.

How many participants can give one presentation?

Presentations should be given by one person only. We encourage all co-authors to participate as passive participants and actively discuss the topic after the presentation.

What are the requirements for the presentations?

The presentation should take up to 10 minutes. After each presentation that does not exceed this time, there will be a five-minute discussion with the audience. Presentations should be delivered in English. Please deliver presentation in PDF or PowePoint file.
