Frequently Asked Questions

Who can participate in “Symbioza”?

We invite all students of I, II, or III degree studies who are interested in biotechnology or related fields and would like to present their research results on a topic related to it to actively participate in the Symposium. Anyone who would like to expand their knowledge in the field of biotechnology and establish interesting contacts is welcome to attend MSB “Symbioza” as a passive participant. In 2023, MSB “Symbioza” will again be entirely in English, so participants from all over the world are welcome!

When and where will XI IBS “Symbioza” take place?

The X MSB “Symbioza” will take place from May 10th to 12th, 2024, in stationary mode at the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, Warsaw University of Life Sciences. We anticipate the possibility of remote participation for passive participants who are unable to attend in person. The appropriate option should be selected on the registration form. The conference fee is then lower and is 50 PLN.

How do I get to the Symposium site?

All information and directions on how to get to the venue will be sent to the email address provided by participants on the registration form, as well as posted on the website under the Venue tab

How much is the conference fee and what does it include?

The conference fee for 2024 is 150 PLN, which has been achieved despite significant cost increases covered by the fee. The price includes participation in all lecture sessions, oral presentations, the abstract book in PDF format, a conference package, and participation in the integration event. The fee is the same for both active and passive participants, although it may be reduced if additional funds are obtained from event sponsors. We also anticipate the possibility of passive participation online, provided the appropriate option is selected on the registration form. In this case, the fee does not include meals or the conference package and is 50 PLN.

Can I participate in one conference day only with a lower conference fee?

Unfortunately, this is not possible. Regardless of the actual number of days of participation in the Symposium, the fee remains unchanged. We encourage you to participate in the entire Symposium, not just a part of it.

What are the poster requirements?

We kindly ask you to prepare clear posters up to size A0 (84×119 cm) in vertical alignment. The Organizer does not guarantee space for posters exceeding this size. The content of all presented posters must be in English. We also ask poster authors to prepare a short (about 3-minute) presentation of the topic for the committee.

What are the requirements for abstracts?

The abstract should not exceed 2000 characters (1250 characters if it includes graphics). In general, its format follows the most standard form of a scientific research abstract (with the exception that we do not accept review papers for our conference).

Should I send the pdf of my presentation/poster to the Organizers before the Symposium?

No, there is no need to do that. An important thing to remember is that you have to upload your presentation to the computer in the hall before the beginning of your oral session.
